Watch Jennifer Lawrence in X-Men: First Class Official Movie Trailer

X-Men: First Class charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto's Brotherhood and Professor X's X-Men.

Video and Photos From the Hunger Games Arena

You can check out the video here, and have a look at what the arena could be like via screencaps in the gallery here.

Work on the 75 million dollar film “The Hunger Games” is well underway across Western North Carolina including here in Buncombe County. News-13 has learned film crews will use part of the North Fork Reservoir in Black Mountain. The city will allow the production company to use the area but they have to follow strict guidelines because of a conservation easement. An environmental monitor will be on site as well. Dupont State Forest is also being used for the movie. None of the areas will be accessible to the public.

Some Updates on Hunger Games Filming in Hildebran and Shelby, NC

The Hickory Daily Record, put up a new story on filming that will take place in the Henry River Mill Village from May 23- 25th.

Dingy clothes hang on a clothesline of an empty home. Windows of the houses along the road are boarded up with plywood. What appears to be an animal pen has been built against the side of one of the houses that fronts the road, and what looks like a rabbit hutch sits around back. Rusted farm equipment also is scattered around the property.

And it appears the old mill store is being transformed to become the site of the bakery...

...Brand Lingerfelt, chief of Icard Township Fire/Rescue, said filming at the site is supposed to start Monday and finish Wednesday. He said the road closed around noon Friday, except to emergency vehicles. But come Monday, the section of road at the village will even be closed to those, he said.
...Hilton said he was told that during filming, Henry River Road at the village will be covered with dirt

The majority of the filming at the village will likely take place outside. Kristine Hilton said crews have been working to put a new front on the old general store — it has an awning and the windows have been replaced — but she said it’s her understanding that improvements aren’t being made to the inside of the structures. The word “Pastries” is now on the building.

So far, there have been no reported sightings of actors, and that might be the case throughout filming at the site. Folks who attempt to stop and linger near the site are told to keep moving. Security guards — off-duty officers with the Burke County Sheriff’s Office — are working at the location.Numerous local people say plans call for a structure in the village to be blown up.

Lingerfelt said an explosion will be simulated.

“There won’t be explosives used,” Lingerfelt said. “It’s all air pressure.”

Lingerfelt said crews have been testing, simulating an explosion for several weeks.
We have heard mention of an explosion at the site previously, and now we have confirmation of that report. Our best guess is that they may be filming a flashback scene of the mine explosion that killed Katniss and Gale's father.

Here is a new video from Johannafana reader of The Hob, who took a recent trip through the Village.

As she gears up for the June 3rd release of her new movie "X-Men: First Class," Jennifer Lawrence continued her press efforts with a feature in the June 2011 issue of Elle magazine.

Wearing a Miu Miu dress, the 20-year-old beauty posed for a photo session while interviewing with the mag about topics including her new comic-based caper, as well as the Oscars and filming in general.

With a behind the scenes video included below, highlights from Miss Lawrence's Elle interview are as follows:

On her role in "X-Men: First Class": “I knew that if I was going to be naked in front of the world, I wanted to look like a woman and not a prepubescent 13-year-old boy…I’m so sick of people thinking that’s what we’re supposed to look like.”

On her Oscar preparations: “Fifteen minutes before, the guy doing my hair goes, ‘If you can get a salad, get a salad…I said, ‘I’m getting a Philly cheesesteak.’ I’m sure there’s proof on a hotel bill somewhere.”

On her experiences on set: “When you’re on set, everybody’s like, ‘Oh, do you need water? Here’s 45 bottles!’ It’s really bizarre…I’m still getting used to it. I’m still in wonderland.”

Jennifer Lawrence Talks 'Twilight,' Kristen Stewart with Mtv.com

Jennifer Lawrence

For those who keep tabs on the world of best-selling young adult fiction and the big-screen adaptations that accompany them as we do, the most exciting story to come out of that world recently is the film adaptation of Suzanne Collins' dystopian mega-hit, "The Hunger Games."

Naturally the biggest news was the announcement that Oscar nominee Jennifer Lawrence had won the highly coveted role of Katniss Everdeen, followed by casting news of key characters Peeta Mellark (Josh Hutcherson) and Gale Hawthorne (Liam Hemsworth), then Elizabeth Banks as Effie Trinkett and later, Woody Harrelson as Haymitch Abernathy.

MTV News was lucky enough to score a few minutes with Lawrence recently to talk all about her exciting upcoming projects, including "The Hunger Games" and "X-Men: First Class." While discussing the huge fan-following behind the "Games" trilogy, the topic of comparisons to another popular book series-turned-box-office dominator, "Twilight," and its leading lady, Kristen Stewart, came up.

Given that "The Hunger Games" and "Twilight" have a few similarities, we asked Lawrence if she's spoken to Stewart about the experience, or if she'd want to commiserate in any way about starring in hugely popular book-to-movie franchises.

"No, I haven't spoken to her," Lawrence said, and then playfully acted out a little pantomime scene of what might happen if and when the two ever do meet. To do so, Lawrence used a series of incomprehensible grunts and gestures that could be loosely translated as, "Hi, how are you? You're in those movies. You are, too. Cool."

"I don't really know what we'd say," Lawrence admitted. "[We'd] just be like [gestures to an invisible book in her hand], 'Books! Who knew?'

Liam Hemsworth poses for a pic with older brother Chris as they attend the Oakley Party on Main Street during the 2011 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah on Friday (January 21).

The 21-year-old actor stopped by to chat with MTV at the event and expressed his interest in a particular The Hunger Games part — Peeta!
Liam shared, “[It's] A really, really cool story [with] action…gritty kinda stuff like that. [It's] Super dark. It’s all young kids in these Hunger Games, which are crazy, insane things.”

Elle Fanning Promises 'The Hunger Games' Is 'On My List To Read'!

While Dakota Fanning has become a part of the beloved "Twilight Saga" family, her little sister Elle Fanning has attracted some attention online as a rumored possibility to play one of the major roles in the highly anticipated big screen adaptation of "The Hunger Games."

MTV News caught up with Elle on the red carpet at the 16th Annual Critics' Choice Movie Awards on Friday night to talk about the buzz surrounding her playing "Hunger Games" heroine Katniss, or fittingly, her little sis Prim.

However, Elle (who was nominated for Best Young Actor/Actress award at the CCMAs, but ultimately lost to "True Grit" star Hailee Steinfeld, another actress speculated to take on the coveted role of Katniss) has one small hurdle in her way.

Despite having friends who are avid readers of the books, Elle admitted, "I haven't read the books, actually!" But, rest assured "Hunger Games" fanatics, the actress promised that after her required books for school, "They are definitely on my list to read."
