“The Hunger Games” by Suzanne Collins is getting all sorts of buzz — good buzz, that is.
The book is set in post-apocalyptic America, Hunger Games introduces 16-year-old heroine Katniss Everdeen, who must participate in a fight-to-the-death annual event called the Hunger Games. The battles are televised, and pit youths from each of the Capitol’s 12 Districts against each other.
Lionsgate has announced a release date for the film — March 23, 2012! Hopefully we’ll hear casting news soon!
Among the names being considered for lead Katniss are Kaya Scodelario, Lyndsy Fonseca and Oscar nominee Hailee Steinfeld. Even Liam Hemsworth has expressed his interest.
Pretty Little Liars‘ Shay Mitchell is also a fan of the book series.
